In 2007, when Mayawati was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, she had ordered the police officials to strictly look into the charges against SP MLA Hariom Yadav and his son Vijay Pratap. In 2009 seven cases were filed against them after a thorough investigation.

However, after the SP Leader Akhilesh Yadav formed the government in 2012, the documents which contained details about the cases filed against Hariom Yadav and Vijay Pratap were mysteriously burnt at Shikohabad police station, in the presence of a senior police officer. Adityanath -led government is now looking into the matter.

The case was highlighted when in April this year the Shikohabad police station was inspected as an annual routine and Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Kumar noted that the records were missing. He had ordered an inquiry, though nothing much was done about it in the past 2 months.

Now the newly-appointed SP (city) R K Srivastava has again issued order to investigate about the missing documents and also issued a notice to the then circle officer Sanjay Yadav and station officer BK Tiwari to record their statements. The statement of the head clerk of the police station has already been recorded in this matter.

Another interesting fact about this investigation is that the names of Hariom Yadav and Vijay Pratap have been mysteriously replaced with the names of Amit Kumar alias Rocky and Anshul Gupta in the history sheet log book.
