BJP releases first list of Candidates for Chattisgarh, 14 sitting MLAs denied ticket

The Bhartiya Janta Party released its first list of candidates for the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram after a central election committee meeting in New Delhi on 20 October, Saturday. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah.

The Union Minister JP Nadda announced 77 candidates out of a total of 90 Assembly seats in Chattisgarh out of which 14 women have been given the ticket while 14 sitting MLAs including minister Ramshila Sahu have been replaced with new candidates.

Among those fielded by the BJP include former IAS officer O P Chaudhary and tribal leader Ramdayal Urke, who recently left the Congress and joined the BJP. The sitting MLAs who were denied ticket are Ramshila Sahu (minister), Yudhveer Singh Judev , Sunita Rathiya, Vidhyaratan Bhasin, Raju Khatriya, Bhojram Nag and Naveen Markandey.

Chief minister Raman Singh has been fielded from his present assembly segment Rajnandgaon. Eighteen constituencies that are naxal-affected will go to polls in the first phase on November 12, while the rest of the 72 constituencies would go to polls in the second phase on November 20
