Speaking at a seminar on the new taxation system GST in Raipur on Sunday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that with the implementation of GST trade and logistic facilities will become easier across the country. He said that Chhattisgarh has ample opportunities to flourish as a logistic hub of India.

He said that with the implementation all the taxes are removed and only one GST will have to be paid, this new tax regime will eventually be more beneficial for the state, rather than the Centre. Pointing out the geographical location of the state, he said that as Chhattisgarh happens to be at the center of the country, making it easily accessible.

He even suggested that different businessmen could set up their godowns in the state and transport their goods to any part of the country from here within a short span of time. He further explained that people associated with trade and business will soon understand the online (return filing) system. The online system would prevent interference of officers. Also, the revenue collection through GST would ensure more benefit to the states as compared to the Centre, he said.

After Arun Jaitley, Chief Minister Raman Singh took over the seminar and also spoke about GST. He said that GST will make India economic super power in the due course of time. Earlier, a trader had to pay 16 different types of taxes but now he has to pay only single GST,” he said.

He further said that the dream of, One Nation, One Market and One Tax’ had been achieved by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after the implementation.

Checkposts of the RTO (regional transport office) are already removed from the state.
