In a press briefing held today, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam told the media that there have been not a single instances of loss of life in Jammu and Kashmir in the past few days.

The political tensions have been said to be on high after the repeal of Article 370. He said that the administration has been successful in ensuring peace without any loss of a single life. He also said that the restrictions will be removed in a step-by-step manner.

The officer also told that the offices of the Jammu and Kashmir government are functioning like on a normal day. Schools are soon going to be open around next week. He also said that the vehicular movement will be allowed near school-regions.

Earlier, Home Ministry stated that restrictions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir will be lifted only after the local administration says yes. Therefore the Chief secretary’s comments point in a positive direction that the restrictions will be lifted soon.

The official from the ministry also said that the administration is focused on ensuring the safety of citizens in Kashmir. On a related note, a closed-door meeting on Kashmir situation is undergoing in New York today. The meeting has been convened under the aegis of the United Nations Security Council.
