A day after facing embarrassment in Karnataka, Congress Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Wednesday turned the table other side by giving a major jolt to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh. In a big blow to BJP, two of its MLAs – Narayan Tripathi and Sharad Kol- on Wednesday said they are thinking to join the grand old party in the state.

The two legislators, Narayan Tripathi and Sharad Kol, on Wednesday, met Congress Senior leader Suresh Pachauri after voting in favor of the Congress government while passing a bill in the assembly.

‘Both the MLAs of BJP Narayan Tripathi and Sharad Kaul have come together with the Congress, influenced by the party’s policy – Suresh Pachauri’ tweeted Congress Madhya Pradesh sharing the picture of the meeting.

However, both the MLAs have not yet resigned from the BJP. They said they want to work for their constituencies and want to back CM Kamal Nath-led seven-month government.

Talking to reporters, MLAs said this is the “ghar wapsi” (homecoming). It should be noted that both the BJP MLAs are former Congress leaders. Earlier, both the lawmakers voted in favour of the Congress government during the division of votes on the Criminal Law (Madhya Pradesh Amendment) Bill 2019.

A total of 122 MLAs – 120 from Congress 2 from BJP – voted in favor of the Congress government, that stormed to power in December last year. In the 230-member house, the ruling Congress has the support of 121 MLAs, including Speaker NP Prajapati, who did not take part in the voting.

Reacting on the quick turn of events, Chief Minister said, ‘BJP claims every day that we are a minority government and will fall soon. But as you all know, during voting in the Assembly on criminal law amendment bill, two BJP MLAs voted in favor of our government,” Kamal Nath said.

The two BJP MLAs, Narayan Tripathi & Sharad Kaul, who voted in favor of Kamal Nath Government during voting on criminal law(amendment) in Madhya Pradesh assembly today, have been sent to an undisclosed location by Congress, reported ANI on Wednesday. They will attend a dinner with Chief Minister Kamal Nath tonight.

While earlier in the day BJP Leader and LoP in Madhya Pradesh government claimed that it will not take even 24 hours to bring down the government if the high command of the party wants to.

The development in Madhya Pradesh comes a day after the Congress-JD(S) government fell in Karnataka after days of political drama, where the BJP is looking to form its government.
