Kerala’s CM Pinarayi Vijayan was admitted to a hospital in Chennai on March 2nd. The 73-year old CM was admitted to Apollo Hospital at 11:55 PM.

Pinarayi Vijayan was admitted for his routine check-up and will be discharged on 4th March. He was admitted due to a dip in his blood count. On Friday though before his admission to the hospital he had visited Madhu Chindaki, a tribal who was lynched by a mob in Attappadi in Palakkad. Chindaki had allegedly stolen provisions. The Kerala CM assured his family that strong action would be taken against the perpetrators. Madhu Chindaki was beaten to death by the mob and died on his way to the hospital.

Following his admission to the hospital, he halted at a guest house in Chennai. He was paid a visit by Kamal Haasan, who came to inquire about his health. Kamal had previously sought CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s advice in the run-up to the launch of his party Makkal Needhi Maiam. The admiration he has for the CM has not gone unnoticed. He said in the past, “My admiration for him is not blind, it is a sensible one. Look at his statistics, look at the funds he has and what he has managed to do with it. you should be proud of him. Doesn’t matter if he is left, right or centre, there are Western standards of living here.” The meeting between the two was also seen on the party’s twitter handle.

The Kerala CM seems to have had an eventful weekend. Hopefully, the check-up assures him the best of health, and a break from the politics.
