As only a few days are left for the polling in the largest state of India, both BJP and Congress are making every efforts to put their opponent in the backfoot and attract voters. The Rajasthan Assembly Elections are crucial in terms, as these polls will be last before the Mega Lok Sabha Battle of 2019.

Indian National Congress in a fresh attack on Friday accused Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje of promoting crony capitalism by helping three private electricity companies to profiteer at the cost of the State exchequer.

At a press conference, Congress national spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that people of Rajasthan had suffered a “loss of ₹6,670 crore due to the purchase of electricity at 100% above the contracted rates”.

“The BJP government’s motto appears to be let private electricity companies profiteer, let people suffer,”. Surjewala alleged, citing RTI replies.

He accused the Vasundhara Raje Government of promoting a “culture of crony capitalism” in the state.

The Rajasthan government purchased power from a company “at a higher than power purchase agreement rate between 2013-14 and 2017-18, thus paying ₹5406.50 crore more” and “an excess amount of ₹1376.50 crore” to another company, he alleged.

In another development, BJP National President Amit Shah attacks Congress over Vadra’s Land Deals in the State.

The 200 seat state will go for Polling December 7, while Counting will take place on December 11 along with other state elections.
