The Indian National Congress on Tuesday announced state-wide public meetings in Tamil Nadu to highlight the anti-people” approach of the Central and state governments, with focus on the Rafale deal.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee Chief President Su Thirunavukkarasar said that the meetings would be held in the next month between January 2 and 12, 2019, in line with a decision arrived earlier in a party’s district leaders meeting.

In his statement to press, he reiterated the demand of forming Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the alleged irregularities relating to the French combat aircraft, a demand that has been put by Congress President Rahul Gandhi many times

Thirunavukkarasar said his party has a responsibility of reaching the masses with the failures of BJP in Centre while AIADMK in the state. With the Lok Sabha Polls 2019 approaching fast, Congress is leaving no stone unturned in a bid to make a comeback in the Central Power. Gandhi led party has issued directions to conduct such meetings across the state.

Opposition parties led by the Congress have been attacking the Modi government over the deal, alleging that it was struck at an exorbitant price and benefited an Indian businessman at the cost of the government-run HAL.  Congress along with its allies have been continuously targetting Narendra Modi led Government in the winter session of the Parliament.

Congress has repeatedly criticized the deal for the 36 Rafale jets, alleging that the government was procuring each aircraft at a cost of over Rs 1,670 crore as against Rs 526 crore finalized by the UPA government.

Ever Since the Supreme Court verdict came on Rafale Deal, both Congress and the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party are launching scathing attacks with the former alleging of Government misleading the Apex Court with CAG Report while the ruling is attacking the Congress of Misleading people about the Deal for electoral gain.
