In the wake of upcoming assembly polls in Haryana later this year, Congress party is expected to join hands with Bahujan Samaj Party. According to close sources, the alliance of the two parties will see its debut in Haryana also after Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The speculations came after the newly-appointed Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Kumari Selja and Chairman of the election management committee Bhupinder Singh Hooda met BSP leader Mayawati on Sunday night. Former Chief Minister Mayawati had earlier told reporters that her party would contest for all 90 seats of Haryana assembly in the forthcoming elections. But this new twist can prove to be a game-changer in the polls.

Previously, Mayawati had joined hands with Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) but the alliance could not take off as the matter of seat-sharing was not solved. Both the parties were offering each other 40 seats out of 90 seats. Therefore now the alliance has been abandoned.

After the break-up of the alliance, Chautala said the JJP would now contest on all 90 seats alone. Previously, JJP also had an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party in last Lok Sabha elections. But both parted their ways after a while.

Haryana’s upcoming polls are expected to become a major political event for the country as Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated projects worth Rs. 2000 crores in the state. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar cam also be seen in full swing with his ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra‘.
