Clearing the air about the speculated alliance of Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, Bahujan Samaj Party national General Secretary Satish Mishra has said that the BSP will contest solo in Haryana polls.

He discarded the rumors of any alliance that have been circulating after the newly-appointed Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Kumari Selja and Chairman of the election management committee Bhupinder Singh Hooda were reported to have met BSP leader Mayawati on Sunday night.

He said that the BSP supremo Mayawati had not met anyone from the Congress, therefore the reports of the meeting are false. He said that the leader has been staying in Lucknow from the past three weeks. He said the speculations are all just a part of a political conspiracy.

Speaking further on the matter, Satish Mishra, as quoted by ANI, said  “BSP  has clarified once and for all that it will fight the Assembly elections in Haryana on its own. Congress party in Haryana has no strong grounds. It does not have a base there.”

Previously, Mayawati’s party had joined hands with Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) but the alliance could not take off due to the disagreement over seat-sharing. Both the parties were offering each other 40 seats out of 90 seats. Therefore now the alliance has been abandoned.

Haryana state is slated to go for polls later this year for its 90 assembly seats. BJP has already kick-started its campaign with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar‘s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra‘.
