Smiri Irani‘s educational controversy once again hit the headlines when she filed her affidavit for the Amethi constituency for the Lok Sabha elections 2019 declaring that she did not complete her bachelor’s degree from Delhi University. Congress on Friday alleged the Union Minister of ‘falsifying records’ of her educational qualifications.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, Congress Spokesperson accused Irani of misusing her influence to get fake degrees and filing false qualifications in her affidavit. Priyanka Chaturvedi claimed that Union Minister has been rubbishing the claims from the opposition party of her fake graduation degrees, accepted in her affidavit that she did not complete her undergraduate course in Delhi University. PC alleged that Smiriti should be disqualified from contesting the polls.

In a befitting reply to Congress spokesperson and the party, Union minister said, “the more the opposition will harass me, Harder will I work in Amethi against Congress.”

Smriti Irani alleged that Congress party has passed derogatory remarks on her without any lack of opportunities. Claiming her womanhood, she accused the Congress leaders of hailing insults at her and her feminity throughout the five years.

Congress leaders claimed that Smriti Irani has repeatedly lied about her educational qualifications even in her 2014 affidavit where she mentioned she is a graduate from the university in 1994.

Mocking the BJP leader, Priyanka Chaturvedi sang a song from the serial “Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi,” in which Smriti Irani was the lead actor. Singing the jingle, “Kyunki Mantri Bhi Kabhi Graduate Thi,” Priyanka took a dig on Irani. At a news conference, Priyanka called Irani a ‘serial killer.’

Smriti Irani is fighting against Congress president Rahul Gandhi at Amethi Lok Sabha seat. Amethi has been a bastion of Congress. However, Rahul Gandhi is also contesting from Wayanad constituency for the upcoming polls.

Amethi will go to polls on May 6 during the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
