Congress holds slogans and protests on the second day of winter session in Lok Sabha

For the second day straight, congress created a ruckus in the winter session of Lok Sabha with slogans and protests against the removal of SPG cover from the Gandhi family, making it difficult for the speaker of the house to continue.

More than 20 members started shouting slogans against the central government like ‘End the Dictatorship’ ‘Please stop revenge Politics’ ‘We want Justice’. Some of the slogans were even in Tamil.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday warned that he will be forced to take tough actions against that member who will protest in the well.

“There might have been precedents of protesting in the well. From today onwards, no (member) will protest in the well. If not, I will be forced to take action,” he said.

Congress raised the issue of removal of the Special Protection Group (SPG) Cover from the party president Sonia Gandhi, son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The central government placed the SPG security cover when Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE), a militant separatist group on May 21, 1991.

The Lok Sabha speaker started the Question Hour in which 5 questions and supplementarity were taken up. Then Political parties like Congress, TMC and DMK started slogans and protests.

Members from the DMK were standing at their seats and on the aisle as they wanted to raise some issues but could not be heard in the noise.

The same was the scenario on the first day of the Winter session of Parliament on Monday where Congress and other parties were protesting and shouting slogans on various matters.
