Nitish Kumar

The coalition of JD(U) and Congress is going through a bad phase and might even end up splitting as seen by the recent actions taken by Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar. RJD is also feeling ditched as JD(U) is openly backing up the strategies of BJP.

Recently Nitish Kumar’s presence at the launch of GST on 30 June, midnight, triggered the long pending tensions floating under the water between JD(U), RJD and Congress. The Congress central leadership feels that the coalition might end up soon, as Kumar has been going against the party supporting BJP. In the past also JD(U) supported BJP’s decision of demonetisation, Kumar also extended his support to the NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind and the fuel was added when he attended the launch of GST.

The main question that arises is that how long will JD(U) last its relations with Congress and RJD? According to a senior AICC functionary, Kumar is repeating history again, earlier he had broken ties with BJP-led NDA on the grounds of having personal clashes with Narendra Modi and he has joined hands with Congress. Now again facing difference with Congress and RJD, Kumar is tactfully changing relations, going back to BJP.

Congress is also having suspicions now that the JD(U)’s actions of fielding candidates against AAP in the MCD polls and tying up with Hardik Patel for Gujarat Polls could also be a part of the pattern Kumar was following to slowly get away from Congress and support BJP.

Another Congress leader said that, however Congress is used to dealing with breaking of coalition, but what Nitish Kumar is doing has left the party in dilemma.
