Just before the state polls, Congress MLA from Maharashtra, Gopaldas Agrawal joined the saffron party at a city hotel on Monday. The ex-congress leader joined in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis.

Gopaldas Agrawal was a Congress MLA representing the Gondia constituency. He is a five-time legislator. He never got the opportunity to handle any minister portfolio though he was made the chairman of the public accounts committee.

Speaking on the event, Gopaldas Agrawal, as quoted by ANI, said, “This is a historic day for me since my life is going towards a change. This change came due to love and affection of Devendra Fadnavis in last five years. He worked for everyone above politics. Today at this age, I should choose development over politics. I joined BJP for development politics.

CM Fadnavis expressed his happiness over the induction of Gopaldas. He said that Gopaldas is one of the best performing legislators in the government. Chief Minister also hoped that now the saffron party will be able to win the Gondia seat finally.

The leaders from various parties such as Congress and NCP have been reported to switch over their allegiance to the saffron party in Maharashtra. Earlier in the day, Nationalist Congress Party leader Namita Mundada also joined the Bhartiya Janta Party.

In another major exit from NCP, MP Udayanraje Bhosale had also left the party and joined the BJP a few days back.
