Congress President Kharge terms removal of questions related on Adani as undemocratic

Congress has announced to take up the allegations of financial misappropriation of the Adani group from Parliament to the streets, despite the portions related to the Adani-Hindenburg controversy being removed from the records of Parliament. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge termed the removal of questions related to him as well as Rahul Gandhi’s Adani as undemocratic and said that if the government is not ready to work in a democratic way, then the public will remove them.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Kharge also expressed major concerns about the agencies’ silence like CBI, ED, Income Tax after the Adani case came to the fore and alleged that only opposition people are seen in them for investigation.

While holding his first press conference at AICC after taking over as the Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge reiterated his demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee inquiry into the allegations related to the Adani Group and also raised ten questions to the BJP government asking whether it would agree to a JPC probe. Why not ready when it is a big scam involving public money.

On the removal of allegations against the government regarding Adani from the House, he said that in his 51 years of legislative life, he has never seen such serious questions being removed from the records from the Assembly to the Parliament. The Congress President said that the job of the opposition is to question the government and the public has given us the responsibility to question the scams to protect their money and rights.

In the meantime, Kharge asked whether the Adani scam should not be investigated while putting a barrage of questions on the government as part of a series of questions issued by the Congress on the Adani controversy? Shouldn’t questions be asked on the falling prices of LIC’s money in Adani’s companies? What should not be asked about the Rs 82,000 crore loan given to Adani by SBI and other banks?

Why did LIC and SBI invest Rs 525 crore in Adani’s FPO despite more than 32 percent fall in its shares? Can’t ask why the price of LIC and SBI shares fell by more than one lakh crore in the stock market? Whose are the thousands of crores of rupees coming from tax havens to Adani’s companies? Were contracts not given to the Adani group in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh?
