Congress has clarified its stand on the upcoming President Elections by stating that it does not support Mohan Bhagwat‘s name for president as the party is against the Saffron ideology.

Speaking to reporters, Congress Spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi was asked whether the Congress party supports Shiv Sena’s suggestion of making Mohan Bhagwat as the president, to which he replied back saying that Congress has never supported RSS ideology and the same goes for upcoming election as well.

Gogoi further said that at the right time, Congress party will hold an internal discussion and will announce its view on the right choice for presidential election. Current President Pranab Mukherjee will retire from his post on July 24 and the speculations are already rift about possible candidates to take over.

BJP has been hinting towards promoting LK Advani for the post, however, recent comment by Shiv Sena MP has triggered a new set of political discussion on who should be the next choice for the post. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a dinner for the NDA MPs on 29th March and it seems likely that the President Election will be the topic of discussion. BJP will for sure try to seek support for its candidate in the upcoming election.
