The newly appointed Cabinet Minister in Madhya Pradesh, Jitu Patwari on Tuesday asserted that Congress will reopen the Mandsaur Farmers’ Firing Case happened last year that claims lives of Six Farmers.

Speaking to news agency ANI, Patwari said, “The Congress party before forming the government in Madhya Pradesh said that those who fired at farmers in Mandsaur shouldn’t be spared.” Raising questions over the investigation process the minister asked, ”People were killed but there’s no culprit, how is that possible? The investigation will be reopened.”

Last year in June, 6 farmers were killed in police firing while protesting with their demand for increasing the minimum price set (MPS) set for their farm products and for a complete farm loan waiver. 

The State witnessed a massive farmers protest which led to violence in many parts of the state, especially in Mandsaur district.

The Madhya Pradesh government in its report said that farmers were killed in the police firing in Mandsaur after the protesting farmers, demanding loan waiver, had allegedly set ablaze 25 trucks and two police vans along the Mhow-Neemuch highway.

The state government appointed commission investigating the incident in its report gave a clean chit to the cops involved in the incident. However, the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier blamed Congress for the Violence.
