While addressing the nation through ‘Mann Ki Baat’, on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is always good to have constructive criticism and the government should take it sportingly. He said that, it is with the help of this criticism only that one could realise its mistake, learn from it, mend it and move forward.

He further added that he has always welcomed constructive criticism of his government’s performance in the past three years. There have been many surveys and opinion polls and this entire process is a very healthy approach to improve the short comings of the government. The government’s work has been tested on every touchstone, Modi said. He also told that, government should be accountable in a democracy and the public at large should give the report card of works done. Narendra Modi thanked the people for providing critical and important feedback, as the mistakes and shortcomings once highlighted can be rectified.

Modi mentioned that constructive criticism strengthens democracy, for an aware nation, an awakened nation this process is very necessary. Further adding he said that, some people criticise Mann ki Baat from a political angle and some take it as a monologue. “When I had first started Mann ki Baat, I had not given thought to the fact that, it would make me a member of every family in India. Now I feel like I am conversing with my family while sitting at home”, Modi said.

Narendra Modi on Sunday, also conveyed Ramzan greeting to all saying that, both theist and atheist, idolaters and those loathing idol-worship coexist in the country.

Sunday being the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, Modi addressed the youngsters telling them to go and visit the cellular jail of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, terming it as a ‘pilgrimage of our freedom struggle’. Than talking about the World Yoga Day on June 21, he said that all the three generations should do yoga together that day, grandparents, parents and the children, making it a pleasant blend of yesterday, today and tomorrow. He also mentioned India’s contribution to the world through Yoga, when the separatist forces were disturbing the peace and said that India has been able to join the world together through Yoga.

Prime Minister also focused on the upcoming World Environment Day, he announced launch of a “massive movement” for waste collection across 4,000 cities of the country from 5 June. Separate bins — green for liquid waste and blue for dry waste — will be installed in these cities to develop a culture of segregating the two waste types.
