The Communist Party of India (Marxist) conducted its mass rally in Wayanad for their candidate P.P. Suneer after Rahul Gandhi‘s massive roadshow.
CPM leader and the state’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan participated in the rally conducted for P.P. Suneer, its Wayanad candidate. Other than the Chief Minister himself, leaders like M.M. Mani, K.K. Shylaja, Rama-chandran Kadannapally, V.S. Sunilkumar participated in the rally. The rally was conducted after Rahul Gandhi’s massive roadshow gained wide support in Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi’s road show in Wayanad included his sister and the party’s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior party leaders.
As soon as Rahul Gandhi decided to contest from Wayanad besides the Congress’ bastion in Amethi, Smriti Irani, his opponent in Amethi had mocked him saying,”bhaag rahul bhaag.”
The CPM in Kerala was also not happy with Rahul’s candidature here as the mahagathbandhan formed earlier had their tie-up with the Congress and other opposition parties and Rahul’s candidature in Wayanad would create hassles for them in the elections. Campaigning in Wayanad, Rahul had however mentioned that his fight is not with the leftist parties in Wayanad but with the main rival BJP.
