Chief Minister of Punjab and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee supremo, Captain Amarinder Singh while celebrating the 72nd Independence Day declared a myriad of development projects ranging from education, infrastructure to water supply and industries for Ludhiana costing above 3,600 crores, reported PTI.

After unfurling the national flag in the Independence Day function on Wednesday at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana, CM Singh announced 117 crores would be invested on a Mega Food Park, to be built on the 100 acres at Ladhowal.

1,469 crore will be spent on a project to shift the current ground water supply to 24×7 surface water supply. A permission for this has been taken from the Department of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, and was posted to World Bank/ADB for external financial investment, said Punjab CM.

The government has also sought ‘in-principal approval’ for constructing Civil Enclave at Indian Air Force Station Halwara. It has asked for the Centre’s approval for the same.

For the development of the Hero Cycles Park as part of Hi-Tech Cycle Valley, 350 crore has been allocated by the government; 250 crores would be spent on the Oswal Integrated Business Park.

In the memory of former Chief Minister Beant Singh, a 30-bed hospital at Doraha will be built. 64 lakh would be earmarked for setting up a 10-bed mini-PHC at Jhorda village in memory of late Havildar Ishwar Singh of 36 Sikh Regiment, who fought in the famous battle of Saragarhi Fort, added CM Singh.

The Punjab government has reserved 483 crore for various urban development projects, including 366 crores for the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, said the CM.

To please the long due demand of the local industrialists, Singh declared that 450 crore will be set aside for the development of a convention and exhibition centre, which would come up over six acres of land on Chandigarh-Ludhiana road. Six months would be required to complete the project.

Under the Composite Development Fund, one crore each will be reserved for the historical villages of Jagraon– the birthplace of Lala Lajpat Rai, Sarabha–Kartar Singh Sarabha’s birthplace, Thapar Colony–Shaheed Sukhdev and Bhaini Sahib–Satguru Ram Tirath Ji.
