Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday held a meeting with Top Army brasses in the national capital. The meeting was attended by Army Chief Bipin Rawat, Vice Chief Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu and the General Officer Commanding in Chiefs (GOC-C) of all seven Army Commands.

Rajnath Singh soon after assuming charge as Defence Minister has started holding a meeting with Army and other armed forces. Friday meeting was a part of the same plethora of meetings.

According to a defence ministry spokesperson, Rajnath Singh lauded Army for the highest level of professionalism and for their role in safeguarding the nation from internal and external threats.

‘Sh met the Army Commanders today at South Block in Delhi. RM (Defence Minister) appreciated their role in maintaining military readiness against external & internal challenges. RM (Defence Minister) assured them of his focus on enhancing Force’s capabilities, achieving Jointmanship & soldier’s welfare’, said Defence Spokesperson in a tweet.

Further praising the Indian Army, Rajnath Singh said, it is a matter of great pride that the Indian Army is ready to face new challenges. He added that the Ministry of Defence is ready to enhance the capabilities of the Indian Army Forces.

While the army is also expecting the advancement and modernisation with the procurement of modern weapons including Light Machine Guns, Sniper Rifles, Bullet Proof Jackets, Ballistic Helmets, and Assault Rifles.

Some of these have been procured Narendra Modi‘s previous government in a limited quantity.

While Rajnath Singh as a Defence Minister has to take a call on the Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) project.

While earlier in the day, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday reviewed the on-going and future projects of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Earlier on June 6, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with Senior Officials of Ministry of Defence and reviewed the operational matters and procurement issues of the Armed Forces.

Rajnath Singh had June 1 took Charge of Defence Minister a day after the portfolio allocated to him. Singh has replaced Nirmala Sitharaman who has now been given the charge of Finance Ministry after Arun Jaitley opted out of Cabinet race.

Soon after assuming charge as Defence Minister, he held a high-level meeting with the chiefs of all forces -Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh – on June 1.
