TTV Dhinakaran

After 4 days of continuous interrogation, Delhi police on Tuesday arrested AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran. Dhinakaran is accused of offering bribe to an election commission official for retaining the party symbol of 2 leaves. This had taken place when the two factions within AIADMK, headed by current chief minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and former chief minister O Panneerselvam were fighting for the party symbol.

Praveer Ranjan, joint commissioner of Police (Crime) Delhi, told media that Dhinakaran was called for questioning yesterday around 5 pm at Crime Branch Inter State Cell office located in Chanakyapuri. He was later arrested once the police was convinced of enough evidences against him.

Along with Dhinakaran, Delhi police also arrested Mallikarjuna, who was accompanying him at all places ever since police had arrested Sukesh Chandrasekar. Sukesh is accused of being the middleman in the alleged deal between Election Commission official and TTV Dhinakaran.

In his statement on Monday, Dhinakaran had confessed meeting Sukesh. According to him, he thought of Sukesh as a high court judge who could help him in retaining the party symbol with legal means.

There has not been any more updates on where Dhinakaran will be taken after the arrest.
