amit shah slammed congress

While speaking at the inaugural session of the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), BJP Party President Amit Shah on Tuesday said that the Modi led government in its term of three years had done much more work than Congress had done in 65 years.

Shah said that the development of the North Eastern region of India was the top priority for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the development of the eight north eastern states was a must for the overall development of the country.

While addressing the meeting attended by the chief ministers of Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Shah said that “The development done by the Modi government in the last three years for the long-neglected north-eastern region is several times more than the work done by Congress-led governments in the last 65 years.” He said that the work has not finished but has just started and the government will rest only after it has achieved its goals.

Further highlighting the initiatives taken by the Modi government for the development of the north eastern states Shah said that a union minister paid a visit to the region in every 15 days to monitor the progress. He said that the government was committed to the overall development of the region and underlined the milestone achieved by the Modi government signing the land boundary agreement with Bangladesh.

Amit Shah talking about the importance of North Eastern Democratic Alliance said that “It is not only a political platform but a platform to culturally unite all eight north-eastern states and increase their involvement in national affairs.” He also claimed that in the next NEDA meeting all the eight chief ministers would be from the alliance.

Issues like safe borders, inclusive development, and national integration are likely to be discussed during the daylong meeting.

A minister in the BJP government in Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has also been an important contributor in expanding BJP’s stronghold in the region is the convener of the alliance. During the meeting, Sarma said that NEDA has been a very important platform for the north eastern states to solve issues over boundary, law and other disputes.
