The MK Stalin led by DMK on Tuesday sealed the Alliance with Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) for Tamil Nadu days after DMK finalize alliance terms with Congress for Upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019 for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The seat sharing was finalized after DMK Chief MK Stalin held parleys with KMDK Leader E R Easwaran at the DMK headquarters in Chennai, a party statement said. As per the release, KMDK will contest the General Elections 2019 from DMK’s ‘rising sun’ symbol.
The alliance between DMK and KMDK days after MK Stalin recently inked Alliance with Congress in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. As per the seat sharing terms, Congress will contest on 9 Lok Sabha Seats in Tamil Nadu and a single seat of Puducherry.
Speaking about the pre-poll pact DMK Chief MK Stalin said, both the parties have as of now just finalized the seat-sharing and the Parliamentary Constituencies will only be decided after holding talks with other small ally partners.
While another party the Indian Union Muslim League have got one seat in the ‘mega’ Opposition Alliance. It is expected that CPI, CPI(M), and the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi likely to join the DMK-Congress Alliance.
While the Ruling party in Tamil Nadu AIADMK had stitched alliance with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). The BJP will contest five seats in alliance with the AIADMK, PMK and other parties. As per the Alliance, BJP will back the ruling AIADMK in the 21 Assembly Seat by-polls. The alliance is for all the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and one in Puducherry.
Tamil Nadu has total 39 Lok Sabha Seats while Puducherry has a single Lok Sabha seat. General Elections 2019 are due for April-May however official schedules for polls are yet to be released.
