The border dispute between India and China in Dokalam has taken a big turn today. China’s army has decided to draw back.
It has been almost 50 days that India and China are facing border dispute in Doklam. Both the countries have been continuously issuing statements and China also threatened India of attacking if the Indian troops did not move back. The issue originated at a place called Dokalam, area near the Bhutan, Doka La is the Indian name for the region which Bhutan recognises as Dokalam, while China claims it as part of its Donglang region. Some Chinese troops came in the Dokalam, area to build a road and Indian troops trying to stop them also entered the region.
In spite of the warnings given by China, the Indian army refused to retreat. India wanted to resolve this dispute with peace talks, regarding this Indian security adviser Ajit Doval had also visited China. After the pressure building on China, it finally agreed to withdraw its troops and move them 100 meters back.
According to a report released by the government of China, the Chinese army is ready to withdraw 100 meters. However, the Indian Army has asked China to withdraw 250 meters. China had earlier threatened India of war, saying that the countdown for war against India has started.
