Election commission has issued a notification today for the second phase of assembly polls in Chattisgarh. The second phase of the polls will be held in 72 assembly constituencies which are to be held on 20th November. The first phase of polls will be held on November 12.
The last date of filing nominations for the second phase is the 2nd of November and scrutiny of the same will be done the following day. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is 5th November.
Meanwhile, the candidates who have filed the nomination for the first phase of the polls can withdraw their candidature till today itself. Two hundred thirty persons have filed their candidature for first phase of polls. 12 out of the 18 constituencies are Maoist affected region of the state. The first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly elections will be held in 18 constituencies.
The State has 29 constituencies reserved for the Scheduled Tribes. Counting of votes will take place on 11th of December along with Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
