Taking strong cognizance of the TMC Complaint, the Poll Body on Wednesday filed an FIR against Bharatiya Janata Party Leader and Union Minister Babul Supriyo for allegedly violating the model code of conduct. The Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Ariz Aftab said that the Union Minister has allegedly violated the poll code by playing a BJP Campaign son that was banned by the Poll Commission.

Earlier the Trinamool Congress move to the Poll Commission demanding action against the Bharatiya Janata Party, PM Modi and Union Minister Babul Supriyo for allegedly playing campaign song, which was banned by the Poll commission on April 7.

Trinamool Congress in a letter to Poll Commission stated during PM Narendra Modi‘s rally on April 23, leaders sitting on the stage can be heard to announce that they will play the song. The BJP Campaign song has been banned from being played out in public by the Election Commission.

The Trinamool Congress in the letter further stated that Nor the Bharatiya Janata Party not its leader has taken a nod from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) to play the song.

The West Bengal ruling party also requested the poll body to take strong action against PM Modi, Babul Supriyo. The letter said that they have violated a direct order of the Additional Chief Electoral Officer and Chairperson, Additional CEO’s Committee for pre-certification Bengal to not play the song.

The song written by Amit Chakraborty ushers the blooming of BJP’s election symbol ‘Lotus’ in Bengal and says no to Trinamool Congress.

The Poll Commission had on April 7 banned the BJP’s theme song after TMC raises objections. The song was composed by Babul Supriyo himself.

In another development, TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee written to EC alleging Central Forces of working on the behest of the centre ruling BJP.

Bengal in the initial three phases has witness number of cases of violence reported from various parts of the state. General Elections have already begun and would spread across seven phases from April 11 to May 19. Counting of the votes will be held on May 23.

10 Lok Sabha Seats of West Bengal including Cooch Behar, Raiganj, Murshidabad, Maldaha among others have voted already voted in first three rounds of Polling.

West Bengal has a total of 42 Lok Sabha Seat and will the voting in the state will spread across on all seven phases till May 19.
