The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a notice to Union minister of Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for violating the Model Code of Conduct and threatening public Officials. MoS and Bharatiya Janata Party Candidate from Jodhpur Shekhawat while addressing a rally at Pokhran on Sunday warned and even threatened the public officials to “hang them upside down”.
He has been asked to furnish the response within 3 days on ‘why action should not be taken against him’ for violating the Model Code of Conduct.

Reportedly, while addressing a public meeting on Sunday night he issued a clear warning and said, ‘This is not the last election, Government comes and go and it changes in every five years. I am warning all those from administration standing on the podium. I have the ‘janampatri’s (horoscope) of each and every one. My name will not be Gajendra Singh if I don’t hang them upside down.
He further training guns towards Congress Government in the state said, “The Police and Officials are after BJP workers, removing party flags only from our houses and catching our vehicles, they are dancing on the fingers of Ashok Gehlot Government.
This is not right, he added.
Issuing a notice against Minister of State, District Election Officer Namit Mehta of Jaisalmer said, ‘A notice has been issued to him (Shekhawat) for violation of the model code of conduct (MCC) and violating 189 IPC for threatening to the public servant. He has been asked to reply by April 18.”
While in another incident, Bharatiya Janata Party nominee from Jaipur and sitting MP Ramcharan Bohra was also served with a notice by Poll Commission for printing and distributing a pamphlet without the name and address of the publisher and printer, which is in violation of the MCC.
As per the ruling, political parties need to print the number of quantities, publisher and printer in the campaign material.
The notice was issued by Jaipur district DEO Jagroop Yadav on Monday.
All the 25 parliamentary seats of Rajasthan will go to polls in two rounds of polling – April 29 and May 6.
Lok Sabha Polls have already begun and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19.
Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
In 2014 National Elections, BJP registered landslide victory and bagged all 25 seats of the state.
