The Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s address to the nation on Wednesday about the country’s successful anti-missile test, Mission Shakti led to heavy criticism and outrage with Opposition parties alleging him of violating the model code of code. Responding to the Complaints by the Opposition parties, the Poll body has constituted a four-member committee.

The Model Code of Conduct came into force on March 10 when the poll panel has announced the dates and schedule for the mega Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

The Four-member panel has been asked to submit the report within a week after thoroughly investigating the PM Modi ‘Address to the nation’ in the light to the Model Code of Conduct. The panel has been to ensure that no state apparatus and public money were used in the PM’s Address.

Sources familiar within the poll body claimed that PM Modi address to the nation should be avoided, however, it does not prima facie violates the model code of Conduct. Sources further revealed that the Centre has not sought such permission from EC for airing PM’s address. ‘The Central Government is under no obligation to seek permission from poll panel as it does not directly use the public broadcasters – All India Radio and Doordarshan’, Sources said.

As per the English newspaper The Indian Express, The panel appointed by the poll body will thoroughly scan the transcript of the PM Modi’s address to the nation. It will see whether PM Modi in his address has announced any new policy, or has given credit to his party, which amounts to a poll code violation. But it is expected that PM Modi is unlikely to be found guilty pf Poll code Violation.

TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee who was addressing the press on the occasion of the launch of party manifesto slammed PM and said ‘is he going to space. Banerjee further added that ‘It’s a political announcement, scientists should have announced it, it’s their credit. Only one satellite was destroyed, that wasn’t necessary, it was lying there since long, it’s the prerogative of scientist when to do it. We will complain to the EC‘.
