Senior Congress Leader Ahmed Patel on Monday launched a scathing attack on Election Commission and raised questions about the delay in announcing the poll dates. Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Ahmed Patel took a jibe at Poll body on Twitter and said why election commission is not announcing the dates and is it waiting for PM Narendra Modi to concluding his election rallies before announcing the poll dates.

Patel said, ‘Is the Election Commission waiting for the Prime Minister’s “official” travel programs to conclude before announcing dates for General Elections?’

Further training guns towards Election Commission and Narendra Modi led Central Government, he said that poll panel is giving enough time to campaign for his party on public money. “Using govt(government) functions as an excuse for political rallies, flooding TV/radio and print with political ads, It seems that EC is giving the government a long rope to campaign till the last moment using public money” he added in another tweet.

The Poll dates were announced on March 5 in 2014 General Elections. However this time, the poll dates are expected to be announced later this year.
