In the assembly elections of Maharashtra, 865 instances of replacement of ballot units and control units of electronic voting machines and VVPAT machines were reported. The replacements were done considering the technical glitches in 46 seats in the Marathwada region.

According to officials, the technical glitches were reported from eight districts in the region. A total of 127 ballot units, 108 control units, and 630 Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines were found to be working improperly. Therefore replacements for them were done between 7 am and 5 pm. A total of 671 candidates were contesting for the 46 seats in the Marathwada region with a total voter-count of 1.45 crore individuals. 15,964 polling booths were set up in these eight districts were.

Break-down of changed ballot units-

11 ballot units were replaced each from Aurangabad and Jalna. 10 such ballot units were changed each in Beed and Hingoli. 23 units in Latur, 49 units in Nanded, 7 units in Osmanabad and 6 units in Parbhani were also replaced.

Break-down of changed ballot units-

7 Control units were changed in Aurangabad, 5 in Beed, 6 in Parbhani, 20 in Latur, 7 in Jalna, 46 units in Nanded were replaced. Osmanabad saw the replacement of 7 such units while Hingoli saw the replacement of 10 units.

Break-down of changed VVPAT units-

In VVPAT machine replacement, Nanded saw the maximum replacement of 177 units, followed by Aurangabad which saw the replacement of 98 such units. 89 units in Latur, 82 in Beed, 71 in Jalna, 52 in Osmanabad, 41 units in Parbhani and 20 units in Hingoli were also replaced.
