Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump are scheduled to meet on 26 June and all eyes are on Washington for this long awaited meeting. Modi will meet Trump for the first time after he took over as the President of US.

Ahead of the meeting both the leaders have tweeted warm greetings for each other. Though Modi had earlier said that he will focus on building chemistry with US rather than aiming for any results, but the two are likely to hold discussion on a number of issues including the Asia-Pacific and Afghanistan-Pakistan regions, defence, immigration and trade.

“Look forward to welcoming India’s PM Modi to @WhiteHouse on Monday,” Trump tweeted on Saturday.

In response to Trump’s tweet, thanking the US President Modi replied, “Greatly look forward to my meeting and discussions with you @realDonaldTrump.”

The main agenda of the meeting will be discussing on issues of terrorism across the world, arrangement for a joint economic partnership in the Asia-Pacific region, defence partnership in the Indo-Pacific region,expanding security partnership in Afghanistan and working on strengthening the bilateral ties between the two nation. Though discussion on issues like H-1B visas and the Paris climate accord could even heat up the meet.

During his two day stay at US, Modi is also likely to visit, Vice President Mike Pence, defence secretary James Mattis and secretary of state Rex Tillerson, as well as Wilbur Ross and Steven Mnuchin, the secretaries of commerce and treasury.
