Addressing the media on Friday, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis slammed the incumbent state government led by Uddhav Thackeray over the issue of clean chit given to NCP leader Ajit Pawar. It was alleged that Ajit Pawar played an important role in the infamous Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) scam.

The BJP leader was speaking on the recently submitted affidavit to the Bombay High Court’s Nagpur bench. It has been reported that the Anti-Corruption Bureau had submitted an affidavit that attempts to save Ajit Pawar in the alleged scam. As quoted by ANI, Fadnavis said, “We do not accept the affidavit. It’s an attempt to save the minister and implicate officials. No proofs have been submitted in the affidavit to negate things that were filed by the DG of ACB in 2018. No documents or interpretation has been given. This is a summary type affidavit.”

Devendra Fadnavis also said that his government has not issued any such clean chit to any minister during his 80 hours of government. The leader said that he had resigned on November 26 and the affidavit was filed on November 27 as informed by the DG. He added, “The DG today had clearly said that we prepared this affidavit on November 27 which was given by junior level officials and it was submitted by the DG today in the court.”

Devendra Fadnvavis further added that his party is planning to file an intervention in the same matter regard if the state government does not clarify the affidavit.
