New Delhi: The Central government on Sunday invited farm leaders for further talks and requested them to choose a dare as per their convenience.

The step has been taken after the farmer’s Unions are intensifying the protest as according to them their demands are not being heard. They want the government to repeal the three farm laws.

Vivek Aggarwal, joint secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare wrote a five-page letter to Dr. Darshan Pal, president of Krantikari Kisan Union Punjab, and said, “You are requested to share the details in respect to your doubts after discussing with farm union leaders invited earlier, and inform the date for punch vaarta (next round of talks) according to your convenience so that the matter can be resolved by holding a meeting again at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi; so that the current agitation can be ended soon,” as quoted by The Indian Express.

The letter from the central government sent to Dr. Darshan Pal and copied to 39 other farm leaders, also gives the entire background of the talks held so far.

The letter has come as a response to Dr. Pal’s email which he sent to the govt on December 16. Through his email, he told the central government about the farmer unions’ decision to reject their proposal of making required changes in the controversial farm laws.

Meanwhile, the last round of talks between the government and farm unions was conducted on December 8 in the presence of Home Minister Amit Sham and 13 representatives of farm unions. The next day of the meeting, the central government sent a written letter and proposed few changes in farm laws, however, the proposal was rejected by farmers on December 16.

Since then, there has been speculation that the next round of talks going to be held soon.
