Pralhad Joshi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister expressed positivity regarding the productivity of ongoing session of 17th Lok Sabha. The maiden session has been extended beyond the normal routine and keens on passing all of the introduced 36 bills in the house.
The Modi government has by far introduced 36 bills in this session and Pralhad Joshi hopes to get 23 bills passed by this Friday. He expressed his confidence and optimism before the media. He, as quoted by ANI, said, ” We want to pass all the Bills. I hope by the end of this session, on August 7, it will create a new history in the passage of Bills and total working hours. The first session of 17th Lok Sabha Sabha will go down in history as (that with) the highest productivity. It will create a new record.”
On Thursday, Lok Sabha passed three important bills in the house, namely, Arbitration and Conciliation (Amendment) Bill 2019, POCSO-Protection of Children from Sexual offenses (Amendment) Bill 2019 and Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill 2019.
Pralhad Joshi extended his thanks to all the opposition parties for their support and cooperation in the house regarding the passing of bills. He also mentioned the reason for lesser productivity of Rajya Sabha as compared to Lok Sabha citing Opposition’s strength in the Upper house.
“With the cooperation of the Opposition, it (passage of record number of Bills) is
possible. We expect the same cooperation for the next two-three days. We are able
to manage the floor under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi” He told media spokespersons.
On Friday, Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up three more bills for discussion which are, Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (Amendment) Bill 2019, Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial (Amendment) Bill 2019 and Dam Safety Bill 2019.
The Ongoing session of Lok Sabha has been extended till 7 August to transact “essential” government’s functions.
