Rahul Gandhi in his recent foreign tour to London has addressed several academicians and even students describing his global vision for India. Recently, addressing the political situation and the central government of India he accused the Modi government of ‘tearing apart’ the Judiciary, Election Commission and RBI and claimed that the Prime Minister had ‘insulted’ every Indian by claiming that there has been no progress or development in the last 70 years.
Addressing the members of the Indian Overseas Congress, he claimed that:
“India shows the future to the world. The people of India made this possible, and the Congress helped them. If the prime minister says nothing had happened before he assumed office, he is not commenting on the Congress, he is insulting every person of the country,”
Speaking of the situation back in India he claimed that people are frequently discriminated against on the basis of their caste and religion and it has been very prevalent under the current government. He further went on to allege that the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act has been “destroyed and scholarships have been discontinued”
The topic of Rafael deal was also discussed by the President of the INC in his tour. Claiming that the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited had been manufacturing aircraft for the last 50 years, but the contract was given to “someone who floated his company just 19 days before the deal”.
He spoke vehemently about the press conference which was called by theSupreme Court judges in January, he said, “It was the first time that four senior-most judges of the apex court come out in public earlier this year to say they were not being allowed to work”.
He added that institutions such as the Supreme Court, the Election Commission of India and the Reserve Bank of India, which are “the walls” of the country are being torn apart. In his talks, he also mentioned about unemployment, various white- collared scams and how NRI’s can help build together a common future for India.
