Lok Sabha Polls 2019: Former Navy Admiral Ramdas to approach EC against Yogi Adityanath’s remarks ‘Modiji Ki Sena’

Upset with Bharatiya Janata Party Star Campaigner and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s comment about Indian Army, Former Navy Chief Admiral L Ramdas on Monday said he would approach the Election Commission against the UP CM’s remark.

UP Chief Minister while speaking in a poll rally in Ghaziabad referred to the Indian Army as “Modiji ki Sena (Modi’s army)”. His remarks about the Indian Army had already triggered a big political controversy with the Poll Panel sought a detailed report from Ghaziabad District Magistrate.

While Former Navy Chief on Monday asserted that statement of the UP Chief Minister is an insult to Indian Armed Forces. He said the Indian Army does not belong to any Individual or and Political party rather it served the whole nation. While asserting to go to the poll body with a complaint, he added that ‘Till the National elections get over, the poll body is the boss, I will approach it with a complaint’

Many Sources revealed that the remark about calling Indian Army as Modi ki Sena has upset many in Armed Forces.

While responding to the development, Lt. Gen (rtd) HS Panag said these comments are the politicization of the Indian Army he said while asserting a need to keep Army unpolitical.

He further added the comment from UP CM did not come as a surprise as such attempts in last 5 years have been done many times to link nationalism with Army, Armed Forces.

The Comment also drew sharp criticism from Opposition parties including Congress. “This is an insult to our armed forces. They are India’s Armed Forces not the private army of Prachaar Mantri. Adityanath must apologize,” the Congress leader Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted.

The Poll Body taking a strong cognizance on the matter sought a report from District Magistrate of Ghaziabad.
