Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) on Sunday organized a meet to pay tribute to late Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who passed away last month. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh among Congress leaders attended the prayer meeting held at DPCC office in the national capital.

While Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad named the auditorium in the name of Mrs. Sheela Dixit at Rajiv Bhawan. Son of Sheila Dikshit, former MP Sandeep Dikshit, daughter-in-law Mona Dikshit, among other family members expressed gratitude to all the guests present in the meeting.

‘A tribute meeting was organized by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee in the memory of former Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit. Sheela ji will live in the form of development done by her in every corner of Delhi’, said DPCC Working President Devender Yadav in a tweet remembering three-time Delhi Chief Minister.

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Congress leader Sheila Dikshit on Saturday, July 20, passed away in Delhi at the age of 81 years. Dikshit was the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi and was the Chief Minister from the year 1998 to 2013.

Dikshit entered the for the first time in 1984 from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. She was among close associate of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and a minister in his cabinet.

She was appointed as the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) Chief ahead of the National polls 2019. She had contested Lok Sabha Polls 2019 from Delhi North-West Lok Sabha and lost to Manoj Tiwari of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
