Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Md Ali Ashraf Fatmi on Sunday joined Bihar ruling Janata Dal (United) almost months after expelled from his RJD. Former RJD leader joined JD-U in Patna in presence of senior party leaders. He was expelled by RJD ahead of national elections after he showed a willingness to contest from Madhepura Lok Sabha Seat.

Fatmi was upset with the party for ignoring him in a run-up to the national elections. He had in 2014 General Elections unsuccessfully against the then BJP Candidate Kirti Azad on Darbhanga Lok Sabha Seat. Fatmi’s son Faraz is currently an MLA from RJD in Madhubani District of the state.

It should be noted that Madhubani Lok Sabha Seat went to UPA ally Vikassheel Insaan party (VIP) under a poll pact of Mahagathbandhan.

Speaking to ANI, Ashraf Fatmi expressed happiness after joining Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United). ‘I had worked for the party when it was just Janata Dal, but now I have the opportunity to serve it when it is JD-U’, he said as reported by ANI.

Lauding the steps taken by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Ashraf Fatmi said, ‘His decision and vision like tap water to every household and Sabka Sath Sabha Vikas are appreciable.
