Lok Sabha Polls 2019: Former Telangana Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anand Bhaskar Rapolu joins BJP

What can be seen as another blow to Indian National Congress in Telangana, its Rajya Sabha MP Anand Bhaskar Rapolu on Wednesday joined Bharatiya Janata Party days after quitting Congress. Rapolu has quit Congress on March 28.

Rapolu joined Bharatiya Janata Party in presence Union Minister JP Nadda. Rapolu had been associated with Congress for over 25 years.

Earlier, Telangana legislative council member, Congress leader, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, resigned from the party and decided to join BJP right after a day of completing his six-year term in the council.

Two Congress Leaders jumped ship to join Central Ruling party BJP days after Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MP AP Jithender Reddy, joined BJP in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah.

Congress in the state is facing rough patches with its 10 lawmakers from State Assembly shifted loyalties to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) reducing Congress to single digit in the state assembly.

Recent Surveys Conducted by Various news Channels predicted TRS sweeping the Lok Sabha Polls winning 16 Lok Sabha Seats while AIMIM winning one seat, the survey predicted.

General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on Sunday declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

The Counting of votes for the mega battle of ballots will take place on May 23, four days after last round of polling.

Telangana’s 17 Parliamentary Seat will go to polls in the first round of polling on April 11.
