The government of the national capital while pleading its case in front of the Supreme Court said that it has become “completely paralysed” as it is unable to make decisions for the posting and transfers of the officers.

Senior advocate, P. Chidambaram representing the Delhi Government said, “Functioning of the government is completely paralysed. We cannot post officers, we cannot transfer officers despite the recent constitution bench verdict which has explained every aspect. These issues needs to be adjudicated at the earliest.”

AAP declared that decisions regarding issues such as services, which deals with the postings and transfers of officials within the government, are to be made by the government. Whereas the current L-G Anil Baijal refused to let go of services and the fact that he is no longer responsible for the postings and transfers of the bureaucrats.

After the L-G transferred various officials, AAP government knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court again. A bench of five judges had in its earlier hearing defined the role of the L-G limiting it to his knowledge of the decisions made by the Delhi government.

A bench constituting of Justices A. K. Sikri and Navin Sinha heard the hearing. The matter will be discussed further on July 26 by the regular bench.

Since the Aam Aadmi Party came to power in Delhi in 2014, it has locked horns with the L-G of Delhi regarding who has the actual power in the national capital.
