During G-20 summit, PM Modi led his emphasis on the need of cooperation of the world leaders for climate change action and asked them to be accessible. This remark had its significance as the US decided to pull off from the Paris climate change agreement in the month of June. US President Donald Trump thought that this deal, which was signed by 190 countries, benefitted only India and China. On this, PM Modi said that developing countries need room to grow and this project is mandatory to be implemented and India will implement the grant in letters and spirit. Trump’s decision drew a sharp criticism from international leaders.

PM Modi mentioned about the initiatives taken by India which includes Skill India, Digital India, and its sustainable development goals. PM Modi was the lead speaker at the second working session on sustainable development, climate change, and energy. He said that the role of BRICS is really important in these areas.

He further said that India is ready to lead the idea of having an international coalition of countries that can identify technology, develop systems and build capacities.
