Hardik Patel, who emerged as the dynamic Patidar community leader from Gujarat is likely to join the Congress party ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2019.
Sources in the Congress have told news agency Press Trust of India that Hardik Patel is likely to join the party on March 12, in the presence of Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking to news agency PTI, Congress sources said: “Hardik Patel, who led the agitation demanding reservation for the Patidar community in Gujarat is likely to join the Congress on March 12 in the presence of party chief Rahul Gandhi.”
Hardik Patel is speculated to contest the seat of Jamnagar constituency.
As sources said,”He is likely to contest the election from Jamnagar constituency.”
Poonamben Maadam represents Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat for the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Hardik Patel’s official entry in the Congress will be marked by the Working Committee or CWC meeting in Ahmedabad.
Also, top party leaders are considered to address a public rally in the city.
Gujarat is the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Congress had given a tough fight to the ruling BJP in the last assembly elections in the state.
