The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) chief Bimal Gurung, while addressing the public today in Darjeeling, said that he was the chief minister of the hills and his writs ran in the hills.

Bimal challenged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to stop the agitation in the area. He further alleged Mamata Banerjee that just because she was the Chief Minister, she was using her power. He reminded her that even he was an elected member of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA). Bimal projected himself as the Chief Minister of the hills.

Bimal also said that GJM was an ally of the NDA at the centre and that GJM will talk directly to the centre, giving all details of misrule of Mamata’s government and of all the police atrocities on the innocent people of the hills.

Two columns of Army were deployed in Darjeeling town yesterday after GJM supporters clashed with the police, damaged police vehicles and set some of them ablaze while West Bengal chief minister was holding a cabinet meeting there. The police resorted to baton charge and fired tear gas shells to disperse the agitators who tried to march to the venue of the state cabinet meeting yesterday.
