Violent unrest in the hills has reached its 30th day, the situation has not improved a bit, in fact, it is only getting serious day by day.

It has been 30 days now that the hills of West Bengal is facing an agitating protest by Gorkha Janmukti Morch for a separate state for the Gorkhas. Mamata Banerjee is using police actions to suppress the protestors, but all her efforts are in vain. Internet facility has been blocked for the 28th day now.

According to the recent updates, GJM on Thursday night burnt a state library in Mirik sub-division to ashes and The RPF office in Kurseong and a police outpost in Sukhiapokhri were set afire in the early hours of Friday morning.

The Gorkhaland Movement Coordination Committee (GMCC) had decided to sit on fast unto death from 15 July but has now decided to postpone the date due to the upcoming Presidential elections. GMCC is a 30 member committee, which represents all hill based parties, including the GJM, the GNLF and the JAP. The next date for fast unto death will be decided at the next party meeting on 21 July.
