As a tribute to the late former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party‘s patriarch Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has decided to construct four memorials in districts of Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur and Balrampur, reported News18.

No official announcement has been made yet, regarding the locations of the memorials by the UP government. But the districts have been chosen carefully keeping in mind their significance in the life of the late BJP veteran.

One of the memorials will be built in Vajpayee’s ancestral village of Bateshwar in Agra district from where his family later shifted to Gwalior.

Kanpur held a special place for Vajpayee as he completed his post graduation from the DAV college in Masters degree in political science. Thus the second memorial will be built in the Kanpur district.

Lucknow is among the chosen locations, as Vajpayee contested and won Lok Sabha elections from here for five consecutive terms, starting from 1991 to 2004.

Balrampur is the place where Vajpayee won his first Lok Sabha election in 1957. So it becomes the fourth memorial place.

BJP spokesperson informed, “Chief Minister has announced that in the ancestral place of Atalji in Bateshwar area of Agra, in Kanpur, where he took his education, in his first Parliamentary constituency Balrampur to his “Karma Bhumi” Lucknow, special works would be undertaken to keep his memories alive”, quoted The Indian Express.

UP government has also decided to build a life-size statue of the former PM Vajpayee at Sangam in Allahabad, which might be inaugurated by the incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi, News18 reported.

On Friday, UP government announced that that ashes of late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be immersed in all the 75 districts of the state, so that “people in the state also get a chance to connect with his last journey.”
