While addressing a gathering of BJP workers at Anval in Mahua tehsil of Surat district in Gujarat on Friday, Amit Shah said that Gujarat Congress is directionless and leaderless. The condition of the party is such that, even if they manage to field a leader, two other leaders stand against it and revolt.
These remarks of Shah can be assumed to be in response to the tussle between two senior Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela and the state unit chief Bharatsinh Solanki.
The assembly elections are due later this year and both BJP and Congress are putting in efforts to lure the voters to support their party. BJP Party President was in Gujarat as a part of the election campaign for Gujarat Assembly Polls.
He boosted the confidence of the BJP embers attending the gathering saying that they will definitely win 150 of the total 182 seats in the state a give an unforgettable defeat to Congress. He further added that they will have to work hard and not only win the elections in the Home State of Narendra Modi but also defeat the Congress from every booth in the state and finish the party from the roots so that it does even dream of rising again in Gujarat.
To reach the target of winning 150 seats Shah has appointed page presidents at the booth level, each of whom is responsible for 30 voters. A single page of electoral roll consists of names of 30 voters and he has appointed one president for every 30 voters, hence the designation given to them is ‘page president’.
Around 1 lakh page presidents attended the gathering that Shah was addressing on Friday.
