As Congress is hoping to put up a better show in the upcoming assembly elections, it is also fearing the split of Shankersinh Vaghela and his supporters from the party. Bapu as Vaghela is commonly known in Gujarat is now openly showing his unhappiness with the Congress High Command. He says that he does not have any intention of being the Chief Minister, but he is unhappy with the Congress High Command for not declaring the candidate early.
As in the past track records, Bapu had withdrawn from the race of Chief Minister even in 1995, when BJP had won in Gujarat for the first time. But within a years time, he went against BJP by splitting with 48 MLAs and occupying the seat of Chief Minister with the help of Congress. He later joined congress.
Now, with the growing unhappiness of Shankersinh Vaghela, Congress is fearing history repeating itself. Congress is now getting used to deal with such riddles in every elections nowadays.
