Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Education & Revenue minister, Government of Gujarat, said in an interview that the emotional connection between Gujarat and Narendra Modi will help BJP win at least 150 seats in the upcoming assembly elections. The reason behind Modi’s connect with Gujarat is change in the fortunes of Gujaratis when he was the chief minister of the state.

Speaking further, he said that the opposition is aware of the impact Modi has on Gujarat, however, they are just underestimating that. He said that Congress made the state poor in its tenure, whereas, Modi opened new opportunities for the public of Gujarat and established the state as one of the most prosperous states in the country. Also, the popularity of Narendra Modi has increased after becoming the Prime Minister and that will be beneficial for the party in Gujarat Assembly Elections.

Talking of the cast-based vote bank, Bhupendrasinh said that caste has never played a role in the Gujarat elections and hopefully, the case remains same this time too. According to him, Narendra Modi never discriminated among Gujaratis and Congress is now trying to polarise the voters by playing caste-based politics.

Talking of GST, a government initiative which is being highlighted by the opposition, he said that Narendra Modi gave a simple tax system which will have its significance once people start to get comfortable with it. He also pointed out at the Congress governments in Gujarat stating that doing business was hardest in the times of Congress where there was no electricity after 5pm.
