Two former MLAs from the Congress and one from the Indian National Lok Dal joined the saffron party on Sunday in Tilyar. The induction of new members took place in presence of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
INLD leader Vedpal Narang, who is considered as a stronghold of the Barwala Assembly seat, Congress leaders Ramswarup Rama and Phool Singh Kheri were among the individuals who took BJP’s membership. Ramswarup Rama had served as a Cabinet Minister in former Chief Minister Bansilal’s government, while Vedpal Narang had won Barwala seat in 2014 from the INLD ticket.
Manohar Lal Khattar, speaking on the event said, “Every leader who has a clean image is welcome in BJP. We do a background check of all the leaders who are to join the party. They are allowed to join only if they fulfill these parameters. BJP runs on principles, its sole purpose is to serve the society and the country.”
Chief Minister Khattar also advised the leaders to join the campaign for the ruling party with immediate effect since the polls in the state are on the edge.
Senior Congress Bhupesh Mehta from Sirsa too joined the saffron party. He joined the party along with two family members of former minister late Chaudhary Dheerpal Singh – Arvind Gulia and Abhishek.
On being questioned about the induction of Ashok Tanwar in the party, Manohar Khattar said, “Only Tanwar can tell who has contacted him, there has been no conversation with him from our side.”
Chief Minister further expressed his confidence in the party’s bright prospect in the upcoming assembly polls. He said that the party will secure an easy victory and get 75 plus seats.
Important Dates for Haryana Polls-
- The detailed notification will be issued on September 27.
- The filing of nominations will begin from September 27 to October 4.
- Scrutiny of applications will be done on October 5.
- Nominations withdrawal can be done till October 7.
- Haryana Polls for its 90 assembly seats will take place on October 21.
- Counting of votes will be done on October 24.

With the many heavy-weight stars like Babita Phogat and Yogeshwar Dutt and Sandeep Singh joining the team of BJP, it is certain that the saffron party will get an added advantage over its competitors.
Furthermore, the defections from other parties are making other opposition parties weaker in its power. This could only help BJP in securing an easy win in the Haryana.
